Orchid Growing is FUN!
Bribie Island Orchid Society welcomes you to the wonderful world of orchid growing. We hope that you enjoy our sections on growing orchids, orchid information, our orchid shows and the many great orchid photographs that we have for you to view. Bribie Island Orchid Society takes pride in the manner which it caters for the new grower who is just starting out to the experienced grower.
At both the New Growers and the Monthly Cultural Meetings, folk happily exchange information on how to get the best results in our region as well as assisting with ‘hands on’ sessions. All growers are encouraged to bring plants for showing and to compete in friendly rivalry with those of a similar standard and level of competence.
The Orchid Newsletter
Bribie Island Orchid Society's orchid growers newsletter is read worldwide! It's amazing how many people keep up to date with what we are doing, learn from the orchid growing tips and enjoy the orchid photos. Read Our Latest Newsletter
Latest News
Our meetings are being well attended and we have welcomed many new members in recent months. Our New Growers meetings are very interesting and informative with lots of helpful advice. Our Cultural meetings frequently feature guest speakers who also on occasion bring quality plants and seedings for sale.
All our meetings finish with a cuppa and members are free to socialise and discuss the many orchids and foliage that is displayed by members at each meeting.
Grants & Sponsorship
We have recently been the recipients of grants from the Gaming Community Benefit Fund to replace our Solar system and from Busy Fingers here on the Island to replace our failing air-conditioning. Work on these two projects has been carried and hall users are reaping the benefits. Our thanks to all concerned in the application and delivery of these applications.

Australian Native Orchids
Orchids are the largest and most successful plant group on earth. Estimates of their numbers range from 20 000 to more than 35 000 in 750-850 genera. These numbers mean that nearly 10% of the world’s flowering plants are orchids. TERRESTRIAL Habitats: Terrestrial orchids in Australia reach their optimum development in the sclerophyll forests.
